The Foreign Broadcast Information Service (FBIS) is a United States government agency which monitors and translates current news and commentary from foreign political speeches, radio and television broadcasts, news agency transmissions, newspapers, and periodicals. The material is wide-reaching with an emphasis on political, socioeconomic, scientific, technical, and environmental information. While the Van Pelt Library has holdings back to 1978, FBIS, which began in 1941, has made translations available for over sixty years.

7/1994 - present

The World News Connection (WNC) The National Technical Information Service (NTIS) offers access to the FBIS Reports online from 7/1994 to the present. Generally, the information in WNC is available within 48-72 hours from the time of the original publication or broadcast. Freetext (relevance) and structured (Boolean) searches are available, with date limiting and sort options. Because of copyright restrictions some material which appears in the FBIS Daily Reports is not included in WNC.

1/1978 - 1996

Microfiche - The Van Pelt Library has the Daily Reports on microfiche from January 1978 to Winter/Spring 1996.
