Library Computing
The Penn Libraries house over 450 public computers which connect you to
the Library Web via Netscape or Internet Explorer, and allow you to access and search Penn's
Digital Library. Many of these computers are connected to laser printers.
Printing, using your
PennCard or a Visitor's PennCash card , costs 8 cents
per page.
When the libraries are busy and other members of the Penn community are
waiting to access online library resources, we ask you not to use the
library computers for personal e-mail or other non-library-related purposes.
We invite you to use your
laptop computer in the Van Pelt and Lippincott
Libraries. In Van Pelt, laptop connections are located at desks and tables
throughout the Undergraduate Studies Center on the ground floor,
the renovated first floor and in the 3rd and 5th floor carrel
areas. In Lippincott, ports are located in the Class of 1971 Electronic
Lookup Lounge.
In addition, starting Spring 2002, students, faculty, and staff can check out a (wireless) laptop computer for use within the Van Pelt-Dietrich Library Center. The laptops, both PCs and Macs, are available for three hour loan periods at the Rosengarten Reserve Desk in the Goldstein Undergraduate Study Center, and can be borrowed with a valid PennCard. For complete details, see Library Lends Laptops.
Library Computer Labs
offer standard University supported software. You will need to
show your valid PennCard in order to use these labs.
