An extensive selection of primary source documents relating to early

- American Religious Experience
A collaborative effort involving the University of North Carolina at Chapel
Hill, Louisiana State University, and West Virginia University, this project
offers students of American religion and culture a publication forum for their

- The Church in the Southern Black Community - Documenting the American South,

- Material History of American Religion Project
The Material History of American Religion Project studies the history of
American religion in all its complexity by focusing on material objects and
economic themes. Working with religious
leaders, it helps contemporary religious communities with their economic
concerns by placing those
concerns within an historical context. Finally, the Project encourages
further investigations into the
religious lives of Americans by paying attention to material and economic
questions. This web site maintains a collection of
Objects and Documents
found by their scholars which represent the material aspect of religion in

- Religion - Freedom Forum Online
The Freedom Forum is a nonpartisan, international foundation dedicated to free
press, free speech and free spirit for all people. The Religion section links
to recent news articles, court cases, and editorial columns concerning freedom
of religion.
- Religion and the Founding of the American Republic
- Library of Congress
Encompassing over 200 objects including early American books, manuscripts,
letters, prints, paintings,
artifacts, and music from the Library's collections and complemented by
loans from other institutions, Religion and the Founding of the
American Republic explores the role religion played in the founding of
the American colonies, in the shaping of early American life and politics,
and in forming the American Republic.

- ARDA - American Religion Data Archive
The American Religion Data Archive collects quantitative data sets for the
study of American religion. The ARDA was established to meet four goals:
preserve data, improve access to data, increase the use of data,
and allow comparisons across data files. Web site allows archives to be
dowloaded and provides free software to do so.

- Center for the Study of Religion in America - Princeton University
The Center for the Study of American Religion has the basic goal of furthering
scholarship on religion in North America, primarily by advancing, consolidating,
and extending the training of the next generation of scholars concerned with
understanding its historical legacy and contemporary dynamics.
- Center for the Study of Religion and American Culture
A research and public outreach institute devoted to the promotion of the
understanding of the relation between religion and other features of American
culture.
- Center for the Study of Religion in Public Life
- Trinity College, Hartford CT
Established in 1996, the Center seeks to advance understanding of the roles
religious movements, institutions, and ideas play in today's world. Their
projects include a Pew Program on Religion in the News Media, conferences,
and the Religious History Project.
- Center on Religion and Democracy -
University of Virginia

"The Center on Religion and Democracy is a politically non-partisan research
center at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Virginia, committed
to addressing the complex relationship between religion and democratic culture.

- Philadelphia Center for Religion and Science
The Philadelphia Center for Religion and Science (PCRS) seeks to
promote education, research, and outreach on religion and science
issues in the Delaware Valley and beyond through lectures, publications,
courses, conferences, dialogues, and electronic media.
- Pluralism Project - Committee on the Study of Religion, Harvard University
Developed by Diana L. Eck to study and document the growing religions diversity
