Summary: Diaries comprise six volumes covering
the years 1858-60, 1868-70, 1876-78, and 1880-81. Fanny, daughter of a
prominent Philadelphia physician William Samuel Ruschenberger (1807-1895),
was an unmarried sewing teacher. Volume 1 of her diaries is a copybook
containing poetry and other excerpts; the remaining volumes record church
attendence, family visits and activities, social and cultural events,
local and regional trips, and her teaching experiences.
